Corsican wines in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

On esplanade Robert Vasse, Via Notte brings the island's cellar to the heart of the Vaucluse: Corsican whites, rosés and reds, by the glass to taste, by the bottle for the table, to share with the local boards. The island music bar, where Corsican wine is poured through the evening.

The cellar

A wine list turned towards the island

Most of the menu comes from Corsica, and the wines are no exception: San Pieru from Aghione, San Micheli from Sartène, Colombu from Calvi and Lumio, Compte Peraldi from Sartène. Island estates, chosen to go with charcuterie or to see out a whole evening.

Alongside the Corsicans, a neighbouring Ventoux — the Trelus from Saumane de Vaucluse — is a reminder that we are indeed in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Poured by the glass to taste, by the bottle for the table, and by the pitcher when the evening stretches on.

Three colours

White, rosé, red

Each colour has its moment: white for the aperitif, rosé over the boards, red as the night draws on.

01

The whites

Bright and mineral, from San Pieru of Aghione to San Micheli of Sartène. Served well chilled, to open the evening over a board of maquis cheeses.

02

The rosés

The Corsican signature: Don Pascale from Villa Angeli, Colombu from Calvi and Lumio, San Pieru from Aghione. The glass to share on the terrace while it stays open.

03

The reds

Rounded and sun-soaked, from Compte Peraldi of Sartène to Colombu of Calvi. The companion to grilled meats and figatellu, when the table settles in to stay.

The pairing

Corsican wine and the island boards

A Corsican wine is rarely drunk alone: it tells its story around a board. Island charcuterie — Prisuttu, Coppa, Lonzo — maquis tommes, brocciu, homemade anchoïade and aïoli. Rosé with the charcuterie, white with the cheeses, red with the grills.

That is where Via Notte differs from a plain wine bar: here, the glass comes with the music, the board in the middle and the table clinking glasses. The tasting turns into an evening.

In the evening

Corsican wine, to the beat of live music

It's the house signature: from Tuesday to Friday, bands take the stage and on Friday the DJ carries the night on. A glass of Corsican wine isn't drunk on the way out — it goes with the music, the terrace open until 11 pm and the evening running to 12:30 am. Not to be confused with the club of the same name in Porto-Vecchio: this is the music bar of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
